a potty journey

This is the second venture into pot-land, again a chocolate clay. I managed something a little bigger this time and instead of burnishing the whole surface I just did a swirl design. The whole in the top is a soft tear-drop shape and fits in with the burnishing.

I'm so used to art taking it's own natural course now that, when I broke a lump from the lip of the pot whilst burnishing, I just carved the break away into a smooth pleasing shape. The burnished swirl evolved from the off centre development. If you look closely at the bottom you can see the swirl change direction at the last minute... most of my art is free to do just that.

"Always work with what you have, not with what you have not" ;))

What a wonderful pot - almost stark in it's simplicity but beautiful too.

Gosh you are so talented, you not only sew, and stitch, and felt, and paint, and take gorgeous photos of your beautiful surroundings, but you make pots as well..... It appears that you can turn your hand at anything you put your mind to... I love it..
